Willemstad October 2019. The aim of the Invest in Willemstad Summit 2019 was to bring dynamism and more life back into our historic World Heritage city center by attracting investments and new activities. Local and Dutch entrepreneurs were invited to this summit focusing on 4 districts namely; Punda, Otrobanda, Pietermaai and Scharloo.

The interest to participate was outstanding, with more than 30 Dutch entrepreneurs registering and more than 70 locals. Afterwards there were only positive feedback about the organization, but more importantly, good contacts were made between local and Dutch entrepreneurs to do something together in Willemstad. The investment summit of 10-12 October had an extensive program intended to introduce both Curacao and Dutch entrepreneurs to the potential of Willemstad: a historically authentic city with a unique mix of Dutch and Caribbean culture that is on the border of new interest, dynamism and development.

A city does not only consist of bricks. That is why the summit also focused on art and culture that appears in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Willemstad. Museums , experts on the redevelopment of existing buildings and officials from the Cultural Heritage Agency from the Netherlands met the local cultural sector of Curacao. In addition to the general program, a special cultural track was set out for this group of participants in order to achieve more cooperation within the Kingdom in the field of “art & culture”. The initial reactions of the participants were very positive about the possibilities that Willemstad offers. The city will develop strongly in the coming years. It is now the right time to get started. Some entrepreneurs hinted that they had already made good contacts to work on developing projects in Willemstad.
